This Incredible Floating Hotel Room Is in the Middle of the Indian Ocean

And it comes with an underwater sleeping pod.

Some people like to get away on vacation, while others like to truly escape. if you count yourself among the latter, then you might want to book a plane ticket to Tanzania immediately.

At the Manta Resort, a single hotel room is the ultimate treat for lovers of solitude and the sea. That’s because here, your nearest neighbors are more than 800 feet away and your ocean views are, hands down, the best on the entire property.

The resort’s Underwater Room is a floating three-floor vessel anchored to the seafloor off the coast of Pemba Island. Guests who book the unconventional stay are whisked away by boat to their personal paradise, where they can bask in seclusion during their trip with little interaction other than a concierge stopping by to deliver gourmet meals and drinks as requested.

Quiet time on board can be spent on one of three decks, each with unique vantage points. The main landing deck includes an open-air lounge area and bath, while just above, a top-floor sundeck provides a place to catch rays by day and stargaze by night. If you can stop yourself from drifting off to sleep under the night sky, the room’s bedroom lies on the bottom floor, 13 feet below sea level with views of marine life floating by.

And because the room is located within a marine sanctuary, views out the bedroom’s wraparound windows are never dull. A reef just below attracts schools of fish during the day, but nighttime is when the real curiosities come out. According to the website, guests just might be treated post-sunset to a glimpse of a squid passing through or an octopus or Spanish dancer attaching itself to the pod’s glass panes.

Ready to attach yourself to some new vacation plans? The Underwater Room is available to book for an all-inclusive rate of $1,700 per night with a three-night minimum. And if sleeping with the fishes is a little out of your comfort zone, you can also dine elsewhere around the world in a subaquatic restaurant or enjoy a massage in an underwater spa. Sign us up!
