Wisconsin Badgers quarterback Alex Hornibrook will return to the lineup for Saturday's game against Rutgers.
A concussion forced Hornibrook to sit out last week's loss at Northwestern, but he was cleared from the concussion protocol and will get the start against the Scarlet Knights.
The starter for the first seven games for the Badgers, Hornibrook is averaging 179.1 yards passing while throwing for 11 touchdowns against six interceptions. He is completing 59.6 percent of his passes.
Hornibrook has dealt with concussion issues in the past, missing the 2016 Big Ten Championship Game against Penn State because of a concussion. He also was limited in the Cotton Bowl against Western Michigan that same year after suffering a concussion in the regular-season finale.
Sophomore Jack Coan made his first career start in last week's loss. He finished 20-of-31 passing for 158 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions.
Wisconsin is still hoping to grant a redshirt season to Coan due to a new NCAA rule that allows a player to appear in as many as four games before losing that year of eligibility.
Last week marked Coan's first game of the season. He played in six games as a freshman a year ago, completing all five pass attempts for 36 yards.
The Badgers enter Saturday's matchup with a 5-3 overall record and 3-2 mark in the Big Ten Conference. Rutgers is 1-7 and has lost all five conference games.
